About Me

I am here to make your candid photo dreams come true, and we will have fun doing it! My goal is to make you feel comfortable, whether your child is throwing a tantrum or I am positioning you into an intimate moment with your loved ones. Nothing shocks me; I am a mom of two boys (6 + 4), and anything goes!

I want to capture all the realness, and my biggest claim to fame is "you are so patient." So, if you are feeling scared to book that session because you aren't sure how your children will be, have no fear. In a session with me, there is no stress. My second claim to fame is "that was so fun!" I am a huge believer in bringing realness into the photos, and we can't do that if we aren't having fun!

So, speaking of realness, I am totally into loving moments with your favorite people. I want moments where you feel connected to your family, where we can slow down and run in the grass together, play in the sand at the beach, or have a big cuddle because those are the moments we want to freeze.

All you have to do is show up, be present, and have fun with your people!

I am a born and raised Vancouverite, a lover of sunsets and sunrises, matcha lattes, and being in nature. I first realized my passion for capturing moments when I was in Vegas 10 years ago at a concert. Instead of dancing, I was photographing candid moments between people. Then I had my son - my little muse - and Photography La Muse was born.

There are some tips and tricks I have learned over the years!

Make sure kids are fed because hangry is never good lol. Snacks... with kids, snacks are everything!! Bring water. If babe is tired and they will nap in the car, I always suggest leaving earlier for your session so they can have a nap and have some time to wake before the session (of course if time allows).

How to prep

Don't overprep your kids for photos, it will stress them out!! I always find it great to tell them you are going to a field to run around and a friend will join us! If you tell them in advance they are getting photos and need to smile... it puts so much pressure on the kids and we end up with a lot of fake smiles or meltdowns!

Please leave your 'camera phones' in your bag while the session is happening as it takes away from your time... and it's your time to relax and let me do the work!

Let me lead the kiddos! Parents like to help sometimes, which is wonderful, but sometimes it has your children's eyes on you and not on me, which we don't want.

Bring a change of clothes just in case there is an accident. I like all the natural shots, dirt and all, but of course, if there is another kind of accident, we might need to change.

My recommendations for the best possible session!! Sessions are made up of 4 things: lighting, location, outfits, and your laid-back presence. Nail all those three, and everything will go right!!

Lighting

I highly suggest sunrise and sunset over anything. It softer on your skin and overall who doesn't like a little glow. If you aren’t able to come out late, I suggest a fall session when the days are shorter and sunsets are earlier.

Now when we get to the rainier season, it can be harder to secure a beautiful day so my strategy is always this – I'Il review the forecast 3 days before your secured date. If the hourly isn't showing a nice day, I will look for the next closest available date that is looking nice and offer you that!

Location

For my mini sessions, the radius is 30km whereas my full sessions are within the lower mainland. I will give you recommendations on locations and even send photos of those locations that interest you most. I will always ask if you are interested in a beach location, forest, mountains or long grass.

In the winter months, I also offer snow sessions at the local mountains. In the summer months, weekend locations can be quite busy so I recommend if you can, to book a weekday session.

What to Wear

I love helping you find out what you can wear as Im passionate about this part but also realize that most people struggle with this aspect. Some tips I always suggest is neutral and soft tones are your best bet. Creams or off whites are better than white; blacks are fine if they are on the bottom half (otherwise you can look like a blob) of your outfit and not faded (unless they are intentionally a faded black denim).

No fluorescent tones unless you are going for an 80’s theme, no graphic t-shirts, It’s always a good idea if you do a pattern to use that as your colour pallet – for example you have a long flow dress with florals in cream, rust, browns – the other family members could wear cream, light grey, and olive green.
